Passion Week Reading Guide

Palm Sunday

On Palm Sunday Jesus enters into Jerusalem. The people there believed he is the long awaited Messiah King and sing Psalm 118 and lays Palm branches to welcome Jesus. After entering the temple Jesus looks around and leaves.

Read Mark 11:1-11

Question: Is Jesus just a king or something more?

If Jesus was to come and look at your life, would he stay or would he just leave?

Monday - Wednesday

The next day Jesus returns to Jerusalem and on the way they come across a fig tree that bears no fruit. Jesus curses that tree. When He gets to the temple in Jerusalem He finds people in the temple courts making a profit from the worshippers. Jesus chases them out of the temple and declares that the temple should be a house of prayer. They return from Jerusalem to see the Fig tree again, dead and withered.

Mark 11:12-25

Symbolism of the Fig Tree: Hosea 9:10

Question: What is the lesson of the fig tree?

Monday through Wednesday Teaching

Mark 12:27-13:37

John 20:24-21:25

The Bible has little to say about what happened on Saturday. Jesus was dead. The disciples had run away.

Consider taking this day to spend time in Quietness and consider all Jesus has done. Maybe you could watch a movie about Jesus’ life

Jesus told his Disciples “But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.” – Mark 14:28

Luke 11:1-13 Small Group questions

Luke 11:1-13 Small Group Questions 11  One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2  He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘ Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3  Give us each day our daily bread. 4  Forgive us our sins,     for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’” 5  Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread;  6  a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’  7  And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’  8  I tell you, even though he will not get up and g...
